Middle Britain turning to online shopping, search statistics find
Middle Britain is turning to the internet for sports, health and online shopping, according to new figures released from technology intelligence website Hitwise.
The firm found that of the 13.1 million people that are defined as Middle Britain in the UK, nearly one in three people searched for toys, hobbies and ticketing in the four weeks to December 4th.
Furthermore, the demographic also searched for health and beauty products, suggesting that ecommerce websites across the UK has a large target market to aim for.
Robin Goad, the research director at Hitwise UK, said that health and beauty is a popular search for people.
"Middle Britain likes to look after itself, with a high proportion of visits to health and medical sites including pharmacies and wellbeing sites," he said.
"Moreover, Middle Britain enjoys visits to beauty websites indulging in health and beauty products as well as the necessary medicines to keep them healthy."
Hitwise also found earlier this week that visits to amazon.com by UK customers increased by 5.96 per cent last Sunday, bucking the trend of other retailers.
