Mobile ecommerce is continuing to grow in popularity with 48 per cent of consumers using mobile devices to research products and services, according to a new report.
Oracle's Mobile Trends: Consumer Views of Mobile Shopping and Mobile Service Providers report revealed that this figure is higher than 37 per cent recorded by ATG last year, suggesting this will continue to grow.
Additionally, a further 28 per cent of people questioned have used their mobile phone to research shopping while in a store.
Dan Ford, vice-president of product marketing at Oracle Communications, said that mobile technology "is altering the retail landscape" and creating "an array of opportunities".
"[The] report demonstrates the importance of streamlining mobile and retail services to enhance sales and the customer experience," he said.
"This includes synchronising billing and operating support systems as well as ensuring optimal network functionality."
Travel website Expedia announced last month that it had received an ecommerce boost with Middle Eastern travellers with more booking their holidays online.
