Online shopping 'will be popular for Christmas bargains'
Ecommerce businesses will witness an increase in the number of customers doing their Christmas shopping online, while their high street counterparts will also see a successful season.
This is according to Patricia Davidson, author and founder of thesiteguide.com, who suggested that online shopping is increasing in popularity each year and predictions for this year will reflect that.
The founder of the website, which offers a guide to the best websites for luxury shopping online, said: "More and more [people] are deciding to do their Christmas shopping online.
"Shopping online is convenient and can frequently save you a lot of money, [but] it still doesn't have the pleasure factor of browsing the stores."
Ms Davidson added that ecommerce allows users to consider a vast choice of products from the comfort of their own homes and gain the opportunity to compare prices at the touch of a button.
Matthew Hopkinson, a spokesman for Local Data Company, suggested this festive period could signal the start of a battle between online players and the rest of the market.
