Online spending on Prince William items increases 12,000%, eBay says
Ecommerce spending on items relating to Prince William has risen by over 12,000 per cent compared to last year's figures, according to statistics published by eBay.
The online shopping website has published a list of royal wedding-related items and how their sales are doing year-on-year.
It found that 34,000 wedding dresses have been sold on eBay.co.uk this year so far, a 21 per cent increase on this time last year, while 'royalty' items have increased by 132 per cent.
Ruth Szyszkowski, eBay spokesperson, said that tomorrow's (April 29th) big day has helped give a surge to the online shopping market.
"The royal wedding has been a great boost for the retail sector, and we're sure the prime minister will be pleased to see that Brits are stocking up on bunting, flags, and all things British to make April 29th a real day of celebration for all to remember for a long time to come," she said.
Yesterday (April 27th), it was revealed that a Canadian couple have bought a Kate Middleton domain name to turn it into a website.
