Portability is vital for ecommerce business, expert says
Portability and the ability to move between suppliers are the most important factors to consider for ecommerce businesses, an expert has claimed.
Andrew Corbett, membership services director for the UK IT Association, has suggested that it is vital for companies to be flexible enough to deal with problems that could arise.
He stated that being able to adapt to any changes that need to be made to ensure success is vital when establishing a businesses, because a number of issues can emerge in the early stages.
Mr Corbett also suggested that selling the wrong products that are unlikely to attract high numbers of customers due to competition is the biggest mistake a firm can make.
"You have to go niche and you even have to go - in marketing terms - something called long tail, which you could actually make a viable business from doing," he remarked.
The advice emerges after research from specialist Actinic revealed that ecommerce sales for small and medium-sized businesses had slowed down during the second quarter of 2011.
