Tablet owners 'more likely to shop online than smartphone users'
Ecommerce companies hoping to attract increasing numbers of customers could be interested in recent figures released by eDigitalResearch and IMRG.
The latest eCustomerServiceIndex revealed that individuals who use media tablets to access online content are more likely to purchase from internet retailers than those who use smartphones.
According to the figures, just 25 per cent of mobile handset owners have used the device to buy products from ecommerce websites, compared with 30 per cent of tablet owners.
Derek Eccleston, research director at eDigitalResearch, recommended that ecommerce companies take action to promote a strong presence across a multitude of channels.
"Whilst tablet device ownership remains relatively low compared to the number of consumers with smartphones, it is clear that tablet owners have the willingness and confidence to shop online via their devices," he added.
This news emerges after IMRG reported that increasing numbers of smartphone users were planning to use the devices to shop online in the run up to Christmas.
