UK's ecommerce market 'like no other', says CEO
UK's decent standing in recent online-economy league tables shows how strong its ecommerce and online shopping market actually is.
That is according to Matt Johnson, the chief executive officer of Mando, who told liverpooldailypost.co.uk that recent findings should have a "significant impact" on how Britain's ecommerce is viewed.
A report published by the Boston Consulting Group last week found that the internet contributed around £100 billion to the UK economy in 2009 and could reach 10 per cent of Britain's gross domestic product by 2015.
Mr Johnson added that the figures, which show that for every £1 spent online to import goods, £2.80 is exported, prove that ecommerce is "hugely beneficial" to Britain's balance of trade.
"It's a statistic that firmly underpins the fact that ecommerce is truly a market like no other – a market with virtually no boundaries, a market where such freedom has clearly driven phenomenal growth," he told the news provider.
Last week, IMRG said that online spending will continue to prosper over the coming months despite the spending cuts announced by George Osborne on October 20th.
