Visa Europe to invest 100 million euros in ecommerce payment methods
Visa Europe has announced that it will invest around 100 million euros (£88.48 million) every year into ecommerce payments to help take advantage of a growing online shopping market.
The company's chief executive officer, Peter Ayliffe, told a conference in Barcelona last week that more people are using their cards as online transactions continue to grow.
He added that the emergence of contactless and mobile payments will help further develop ecommerce shopping.
Earlier this month, fashion company Miu Miu launched an ecommerce website so that its customers can have access to all of its collections and details of upcoming fashion events.
Visa could be a form of payment that people use, and Mr Ayliffe added that the card-paying trend looks set to continue.
“We are seeing strong double digit growth in the usage of Visa cards across Europe, particularly with debit, and will continue to do so in the next few years as electronic payments displace cash," he said.
