Large businesses, including US retailer Wal-Mart, are increasing their internet presence in China because more people are spending their money on ecommerce sites in the country.
Suning, a home appliance firm, is building around 27 storage centres to help it cope with a rising demand for online purchases in China.
Furthermore, the company hopes that it will have around 60 equivalent buildings between 2013 and 2015 as it believes that there will be a continued rise in demand, reports warc.com.
Sun Weimin, vice-chariman of Suning, told China Daily that in-store and online purchases can join together to create a successful business.
"While we add stores, we're still paying attention to our online business," he told the news provider.
"Traditional [retail] and ecommerce have different customers, and we believe the two can develop cooperatively."
Europe is also experiencing an ecommerce boom after figures released by Forrester Research showed that online spending increased 18 per cent in the continent last year, while 57 per cent of adults now shop online.
