Walmart set to expand its ecommerce operations to China and Latin America
One of the world's leading retailers, Walmart, is set to expand its ecommerce offerings across the world over the coming year as it looks to expand its brand further.
The company will be launching online shopping websites in Latin America and China in a bid to take advantage of the growing internet market, reports the Financial Times.
Walmart began selling items, such as consumer electronics, to people in Mexico in 2010 after introducing a new website.
Earlier this week, comScore announced that ecommerce spending in the US over the holiday season soared as more people looked for bargains on the internet in the run-up to and after Christmas.
Sales in the week ending December 26th rose by 17 per cent in comparison to the same days in 2009, with £2.45 billion worth of goods purchased.
The firm's chairman, Gian Fulgoni, said that the rates of spending had been "slightly stronger than we had expected".
