Managed hosting is likely to grow in popularity as the recession continues to affect small businesses in the day-to-day running of their projects.
At least that is the opinion of one market research company, which has touted the outsourcing service as a key player in the economic downturn, technology publication CIO India reports.
Forrester Research principal analyst Galen Schreck recently claimed: "If you needed more office space, would you build an office from ground up or would you look for a larger, more modern office building to lease?"
He explained that leasing a larger and more modern office makes more sense, which is what he likened managed hosting to - a lease on datacentre space.
Indeed, with many small businesses shaking up their strategies in order to stay afloat and remain competitive in the market, it is likely that many will turn to managed hosting for the first time.
This comes after research conducted by Easynet Connect found that 45 per cent of small-to-medium enterprises believe the internet will be essential for them to ride out the recession storm.
