As the credit crunch continues to bite, small enterprises finding it difficult to stay afloat could find themselves priced out of business when it comes to technology, software or managed hosting.
However, this is not likely to happen if Microsoft has anything to do with it.
Indeed, the software giant has pledged its support to small businesses, promising to make its new Windows Server 2008 Foundation affordable and accessible to them.
Moreover, it has announced plans to donate a portion of the revenue from the product to Techsoup.org and Telecentre.org, organisations which provide resources to nonprofits throughout the globe.
Steve Ballmer, Microsoft chief executive officer, commented: "Small businesses around the world have big business dreams and needs."
Meanwhile, Microsoft recently introduced a new application for its mobile devices, which it claimed would benefit remote workers and people who need to access the likes of business files and work resources while on the move.
