72% of firms to increase online marketing budgets in next 12 months, survey finds
Nearly three-quarters of businesses will be increasing their online marketing budgets over the next 12 months, according to a new survey.
Marketing Budgets 2011, a report published today (February 24th) by Econsultancy and SAS, highlights that the figure is four per cent higher than this time last year.
Overall marketing budgets are also set to rise at 52 per cent of companies, up from 47 per cent in 2010.
Director of marketing at SAS UK, Richard Kellett, said that companies will have to be more creative to ensure that their online marketing generates more traffic to websites over the coming year.
"The marketing environment continues to evolve in radically new ways," he said.
"The proliferation of new channels, and changes in how we communicate through these channels, continues to put significant pressure on both our marketing budgets, and the skills and imagination of marketing professionals."
Another sector that will need to change is social networking websites, according to Andrew Girdwood, head of strategy at bigmouthmedia.
