Facebook 'leads the way for online marketing'
Increasing numbers of businesses are improving online marketing strategies through promoting their brand using social networking websites, one expert has explained.
Kimberly Maul, digital marketing, media and commerce analyst at eMarketer, claimed Facebook continues to lead the way for companies looking to increase custom.
She suggested that the popularity of the website for brand promotion was encouraging firms to sign up to alternative social networking websites, such as Twitter.
Ms Maul went on to suggest that Facebook would continue as the leader of the pack for businesses hoping to spread the word about their services, despite the launch of Google+.
"Google has a rich history with search and integrating advertising … which could be beneficial to marketers. However … the buzz about the site has decreased," she explained.
Despite its increasing popularity among businesses of all sizes, Ms Maul went on to claim that Twitter's advertising platform was not ready for use by small and local firms.
