Mobile e-commerce surges by 254%
Mobile devices are becoming increasingly crucial to the UK's e-commerce enthusiasts, new research suggests.
According to a survey by web user specialist Yuseo, shopping by mobile or 'm-commerce' is exhibiting strong growth rates similar to those of e-commerce at its inception.
In fact, a recent survey by IMRG revealed that the mobile commerce market increased by an enormous 254 per cent year-on-year in March.
Of the British cyber users who have already made an online shopping transaction using a mobile device such as a tablet or smartphone, 76 per cent have purchased goods and 40 per cent have paid for services.
However, 87 per cent of UK web users admit that they have never bought anything using a mobile device.
The results do suggest that this is likely to change in the future, as 72 per cent of survey respondents said that they were "very likely" to try m-commerce in the near future.
A recent study by Worldpay research found that mobile shopping is also growing on a global scale, as nearly 20 per cent of consumers reported shopping online using a mobile phone.
