News outlets should 'push ahead' in online marketing through phones
Music companies and news outlets should "push ahead" with marketing their brand online as the number of consumers accessing information through their mobile phones is on the rise.
That is according to Neil Strother, practice director at ABI Research, who said that there has been rapid growth in mobile content consumption in recent years.
ABI's Mobile Content Strategies report found their presence in the market could be a part of total revenue streams expected to exceed $6 billion (£3.76 billion) in 2013.
Mr Strother added that there are several industries that should invest in their online and mobile presence as people change the way they shop.
"Digital game publishers, music companies, video producers, news outlets, and app developers should move ahead, if they haven't already," he said.
"They have the expertise, they have the content, and mobile consumers are already enthusiastic."
Earlier this month, Georgina Christian of Mail Blaze told marketingweb.co.za that changing their marketing from print advertising to email would not be a "huge step".
