SEO 'to be used increasingly in website design'
Businesses will increasingly look to use search engine optimisation (SEO) techniques from the website design phase over the course of this year, an expert has suggested.
Jill Whalen of High Rankings wrote for Search Engine Land that companies, particularly larger ones, will realise how important it can be to focus on SEO when designing their websites as opposed to building them and simply tacking it on at the end.
She made the same forecast for 2008 and believes that the trend will continue over the next 12 months as search marketing remains a top priority for businesses.
More firms will look to professionals to help them with their SEO strategies as well, said Ms Whalen last year, in order to ensure the technology integration was carried out "correctly".
Search engine marketing will become more important than ever in 2009, according to Imran Khan, an analyst for JP Morgan.
The recession will drive the trend as companies seek to utilise campaigns that are viewed as being the most cost-effective, he suggested.
