Targeted online marketing 'is likely to become more pervasive'
Ecommerce firms and other companies are likely to implement more and more targeted advertising strategies in the near future, an expert has claimed.
According to Web User Magazine, online stores and advertisers are more likely to opt for targeted advertising than other alternatives.
Ben Camm-Jones, news editor at the publication, commented: "Targeted advertising will become more and more pervasive - it is much more attractive to an advertiser than a non-targeted approach."
He made the comments after BT announced that it has slowed the deployment of Phorm Webwise.
BT announced that internet-based advertising offers a number of benefits for both consumers and publishers.
A spokesperson for the company said interest in the sector was "extremely dynamic" and that Phorm and techniques to provide targeted advertising have been designed to ensure that they cannot identify the individual web-user.
Other marketing strategies that online firms might employ to boost traffic to their site might be search engine optimisation (SEO) techniques.
This might involve setting up a business blog to encourage greater interaction with consumers as well as for SEO strategies.
