Microsoft's software as a service (SaaS) technology is likely to become more prevalent as two firms agree to sell the Business Productivity Online Suite (BPOS).
CSC and Azaleos have both announced that they will offer the BPOS services as well as their usual products, such as technology enabling companies to utilise in-house collaboration tools messaging.
Among the services that will be on offer through the BPOS include Microsoft exchange, Microsoft Office Live Meeting and Microsoft Office Communications Online.
Michael Osterman, an analyst at Osterman Research, commented: "BPOS is clearly picking up steam, and I think we'll see more hybrid messaging vendors in the fairly near future."
He noted that SaaS and hosted services could become particularly useful for companies that have many small premises.
Among the businesses that could benefit from utilising the SaaS technologies offered by the computing giant are insurance firms, realty organisations and brokerage businesses, Mr Osterman added.
