IBM unveils new cloud hosting services platform for businesses
IBM has announced a new cloud hosting services platform, offering multi-tenant solutions to businesses at reduced prices.
The SmartCloud Enterprise platform will be hosted in the Asia Pacific cloud computing data centre, situated in Singapore, helping to provide infrastructure-as-a-service to companies.
It is believed that the solution will provide businesses with 30 per cent cost savings and a reduction in application development tasks, reports thehindu.com.
Akash Saxena, vice-president of offerings management & development for global technology services, IBM, India/South Asia, said that cloud services are a "transformational element" in IT.
"The new IBM SmartCloud Enterprise aims to do just that by offering businesses the cost savings and scalability of a shared cloud environment with the enterprise class security and capabilities that our clients expect from IBM," he explained.
A report by IBM, published earlier this month, revealed that 60 per cent of companies are looking to embrace cloud computing over the next five years with nearly three-quarters (73 per cent) of those in the media and entertainment industry looking to hosted services.
