Trader Media Group switches to Red Hat Linux
Trader Media Group has migrated its operations to a new Red Hat Enterprise Linux-based server which it hopes will allow for more efficient and reliable performance.
The firm, which operates the motoring website Autotrader.co.uk, has converted its system, which previously operated using a number of different platforms and applications, to a unified Red Hat Enterprise Linux and JBoss Enterprise Application Platform-based server.
Peter Hanlon, chief technical architect for Trader Media Group, expressed satisfaction with the choice of Linux and JBoss, which he claimed would offer significant advantages over the "inefficient and incumbent" infrastructure it used before.
He said: "Our 60-strong development team is happy with the implementation and the operation teams understand it, laying strong foundations for the future."
This comes after transportation provider Odyssey Logistics & Technology Corporation earlier this week also migrated to an Enterprise Linux server, which Red Hat claimed would help it to run its operations more reliably and affordably.
