Internet Central warns over BT spam email
Businesses using cloud services to improve the cost-effectiveness of their operations could be interested in a security warning from Internet Central.
The service provider has advised users to be cautious about emails claiming the customers' latest BT payment has not been processed.
Although the correspondence appears to be genuine, often containing the company's logo, people have been urged to not click on the hyperlink provided in a bid to limit the risk of harm to their computer.
"Our advice is to contact whoever manages your spam protection," warned Wayne Coulthard of Internet Central.
Last year, the government pledged a £500 million funding injection to boost spending on internet security measures across the UK.
Maitland Hyslop, Internet Central's managing director, recommended that businesses take "simple precautions" to ensure the safety of their IT systems.
He urged managers to adopt the use of security measures that offer advanced services, which are currently unavailable as part of standard firewall facilities.
