Cloud computing could create 300,000 UK jobs by 2015, report says
Around 300,000 new jobs could be created in the UK by cloud computing over the next four years, according to new research.
Findings by EMC, the second part of its 2011 Cloud Dividend report, found that the Europe, Middle East and Africa area of the world will create 2.4 million jobs as a whole.
Furthermore, the financial benefit to the technology's adoption will be around 763 billion euros (£641 billion) as cost savings are put to extra use elsewhere in businesses.
EMC Consulting's vice-president for the EMEA region, Sandra Hamilton, told channelweb.co.uk that the introduction of cloud is very important to the future of companies.
"A critical element in businesses achieving the competitive advantage presented by cloud computing lies in the successful virtualisation of mission-critical and revenue-generating applications," she said.
Earlier this week, Steve Ball of Cloud 9 said that cloud computing will be one of the "key technology trends of recent decades".
