Cloud computing provides 'business agility' according to IT specialist
Cloud computing "fosters business agility in a pragmatic and compelling way" and enables quick decision-making in businesses, according to an information technology specialist.
Valentin Pinuaga, consulting director of Europe, Middle East and Africa for EMC, told ameinfo.com that by using cloud, companies could also have scalable solutions that can expand if their needs get bigger and that sensitive information is secure.
More companies are using on demand applications and software as a service (SaaS) to reduce costs by using software in the cloud instead of hosting it on-site.
Mohammed Amin, vice president and regional manager, also told the news provider that cloud computing is "gaining recognition among boardrooms".
"Cloud computing enables fundamental changes in how technology resources are consumed by the business. Activity in a cloud is measured so customers of cloud-based services can be charged on a pay-per-use basis," he said.
Virtualisation is also being used by companies to reduce costs, by sharing the resources of an operating system onto several different monitors.
