Cloud computing set to be widely used in the property companies sector, Rics says
Property companies will increasingly turn to cloud computing in the future because it will allow them to pass on the responsibility of managing and maintaining servers in-house.
That is according to the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (Rics), which found that pressure to reduce expenses will see more housing businesses turn to cloud computing to have its information stored elsewhere.
Spokesman for Rics, Andrew Waller, told FT Advisor that there are several reasons why property companies are set to take advantage of cloud, including being able to use massive IT resources.
"The impending impact of businesses adopting the Cloud will be far reaching for the property profession," he told the news provider.
"Organisations that choose to adopt these virtual IT systems will be able to reduce their running costs and smaller businesses will be able to access systems which would, otherwise, have been beyond their financial means."
Steve Ball, the managing director of Cloud 9, said earlier this week that cloud computing is "one of the key technology trends of recent decades".
