Cloud hosting will 'continue to see the use of virtualisation advance'
Cloud computing and cloud hosting will "continue to see the use of virtualisation advance" as companies look to become more efficient with their IT resources.
That is according to Professor John Walker, chief technology officer of Secure-Bastion and a member of ISACA's security advisory group, who said that VM systems are ideal for running multiple operating systems.
He added that server virutalisation has many benefits, including reduced server sprawl and a quicker build time.
In an online presentation, Professor Walker also claimed that despite the media hype, virtualisation dates back to the 1960s and is not actually a new technology.
The benefits to the enterprise IT environment mean that is has "come to the forefront again", he added.
Keir Thomas told cio.com.au on Monday that any company that is not using virtualisation is at risk of being left behind if they do not introduce it now, adding that the technology "offers something for everybody".
