Businesses looking to improve their IT operations and increase employee productivity are likely to adopt hosted cloud services in a more circumstantial manner in the coming years, according to the opinion of one expert.
Seth Robinson, co-author of the second annual CompTIA Trends in Cloud Computing Report, suggested that adoption of the increasingly popular technology is set to evolve into a more situation-based tool in the future.
He suggested that high numbers of firms would recognise the benefits of both the private and public-based solutions and begin to use both in a bid to suit their needs and provide the desired results for the business.
"As [firms] understand the mix there, that's going to change the way they might want to set themselves up, both in a public cloud and establishing a private cloud," Mr Robinson explained.
His comments emerge after the recent CompTIA report predicted that unified communications would remain on a path of aggressive growth over the next several years as an increasing number of businesses begin to recognise the numerous benefits.
This is reflected in the document's findings, which revealed that small businesses and employees outside the IT function were beginning to broaden their understanding of the advantages of using the technology and how it could affect operations.
Carolyn April, fellow co-author of the report, echoed the views of Mr Robinson and forecast that larger firms would adopt hosted services using a hybrid perspective, with big companies building private clouds within their enterprise walls.
"Additionally, there'll be traditional on-premise technology that's going to continue to coexist with anything that's in the cloud," she predicted.
The organisation's report also revealed that 72 per cent of businesses felt more positive about the use of unified communications that they did one year ago as a result of their recognition regarding the technical benefits, as well as realising how the service enables other business objectives.
