Firms using cloud could be rising as wireless LAN networks set to grow larger
The number of businesses using wireless local area networks (LAN) is increasing and will continue to rise over the next four years, suggesting that more firms are using cloud computing.
Market figures for wireless LAN are expected to grow by more than 75 per cent by 2015 as companies move away from traditional telephone line connections.
Furthermore, The Dell'Oro Group predicts that revenue in the market will hit $7.5 billion (£4.66 billion) after difficult years in 2008 and 2009.
Loren Shalinsky, senior analyst of wireless LAN at Dell'Oro Group, said that networks will be cropping up more.
"Service providers continue to expand their affiliated network of hotspots, and IT departments continue to build-out new WLAN infrastructure and upgrade previous installations to accommodate users’ desires," he said.
At the beginning of the year, Chris Knowles of Vmware told cnet.com that the speed at which people can receive services is the key to the rate at which people will install cloud computing.
