Flexible working rights could require firms to use cloud services
Cloud services could be used by companies after one organisation said flexible working rights will ensure that more women work in the IT industry.
Maggie Berry, managing director of Women in Technology, who said that "quality part-time work" opened up by the use of flexible working tools would allow women to juggle both a career and family life.
She added that technology, such as hosted cloud services, is making it "easier than ever before" for women to work from home.
Her comments come after the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills announced last week that it would be repealing the regulations extending the right to request flexible working to parents of 17-year-olds for all businesses.
Ms Berry warned however that flexible working must be available to both men and women.
"It's also important to make sure flexible working isn't just part of a diversity policy on paper, but that it’s something staff can really take advantage of," she said.
"More quality part-time work would also allow more people to juggle a career and family life rather than having to choose between the two."
