Further protection required for cloud hosting services, expert says
Cloud hosting services could have further protection in the near future after a leading security company said that legislation should be introduced to help defend users.
Nikolay Grebennikov, chief technology officer at Kaspersky Lab, said that new rules should be brought in as people using cloud computing do not know who has access to their data.
Furthermore, he believes that non-technical steps should be taken to make sure that people feel comfortable with cloud services.
His comments were made at the Infosecurity Europe meeting, which took place at Earls Court in London between April 19th and 21st.
Mr Grebennikov added that current problems are not "technical issues" but problems that require new legislation to improve communication between users and providers.
"You almost know nothing and this is the reason why it's really important to create some legislation ruling what cloud providers should publish and say to customers [about] how they protect their data," he said.
