Businesses hoping to adopt cloud services to increase employee productivity could be interested in recent predictions from In-Stat.
The analysis company estimated that Infrastructure-as-a-Service revenue will grow to $4 billion (£2.4 billion) by 2015, which represents a 153 per cent increase from 2010.
With the ability to allow the delivery of IT services over the internet in real time, cloud services give users the chance to access applications using any online device.
Following the statistics, analyst Greg Potter highlighted the role of Google Apps and Force.com in promoting Software-as-a-Service (SaaS).
"Only now since the advent of entire platforms for applications … are these applications gaining the necessary visibility among businesses to gain traction in the software market," he added.
According to the Register, an increase to the popularity of cloud services could lead to the storage of data in out-of-office locations, allowing workplaces to save money on supplies, as well as run applications on-demand.
