Cloud computing is "set to be the future" but IT professionals must be educated in how to be savvy when a business changes, according to an expert.
Allan Pettman, the UK managing director of Global Knowledge, told a Westminster eForum event that cloud will be one way to help turn finances around.
He is quoted by v3.co.uk as saying that although IT workers may see the change as a threat to their jobs, there will be plenty of opportunities that follow the it.
Nabeel Fayoumi, general manager of the National Information Technology Centre, told the Jordan Times last week that adoption of cloud computing has become a necessity as opposed to an option.
He added that the whole world is resorting to cloud computing to help reduce their outgoings.
At the event entitled Skills for the UK Digital Economy, Mr Pettman added that new roles will be developed from cloud adoption and off-site server use.
"The cloud is set to be the future as it helps firms turn capital expenditure into operational expenditure, which many existing IT workers see as a career killer. But there are opportunities within this," he said.
