Majority of firms can accommodate an aspect of flexible working, expert says
Cloud hosting services could be used by businesses as the majority of jobs can accommodate an aspect of flexible working.
That is according to Peter Thomson, director of research at the Telework Association, who said that even some of the more hands-on jobs can be done remotely.
This could mean that more companies use cloud services, such as hosted unified communications, to ensure that their employees are given the platform from which to work from another location.
Research by the TUC, published last week (May 20th), revealed that the growth of home-working stalled during the recession with a fall last year in the proportion of employees doing the majority of work from home.
Mr Thomson added that there is a problem with the mentality of businesses that are avoiding home working.
"I think part of the prejudice is a feeling that because it can't be done permanently from home, it can't be done from home at all," he said.
"But a portion of most jobs, even hands-on jobs, can be done remotely."
