Outlook strong for on demand application use, survey reveals
On demand applications and cloud hosting services are becoming more popular over the next year, according to a new survey.
The Sand Hill Group's Software CEO/CFO Outlook 2011 study revealed that of the 100 company chief executives and chief finance officers questioned, the majority believe that cloud and software-as-a-service (SaaS) will drive the largest amount of spending in the software industry.
Furthermore, the majority of those questioned expect their companies to grow by at least 20 per cent this year, suggesting that more could be looking for cost-saving IT measures including cloud services.
Around 72 per cent said that multi-tenant SaaS solutions would be most desirable to new customers this year, with more than 50 per cent saying that software spending will be tailored towards increasing efficiencies and reducing costs.
Cloud hosting services could also be used after business futurologist Dr James Bellini said last week that methods of working will become "more remote and more virtual" in the future.
