Revenues from the cloud computing software management market are set to soar to $2.5 billion (£1.57 billion) by 2015, according to new research.
The International Data Corporation found that software that helps companies manage their cloud networks will become increasingly used in the next four years, suggesting that more companies are turning to cloud computing.
Furthermore, the firm also found that 70 per cent of worldwide cloud management software purchases were used for private cloud computing networks.
Mary Johnston Turner, research director for enterprise system management software at IDC, said that figures prove that cloud adoption is becoming more widespread.
"As customers begin to recognise the economic and performance benefits of cloud technologies, there will be a significant shift from targeted, pilot implementations to broader production uses," she said.
Microsoft Ireland reported last week that the country could create a further 8,600 jobs if businesses and organisations were to adopt cloud computing into its IT departments.
