Server virtualisation market maturing
The market for server virtualisation is maturing, a new report by Forrester has revealed.
According to eWeek Europe, the paper indicated that virtual server technology is being used more for production workloads in the past year.
Forrester found that 91 per cent of respondents are using server virtualisation for production workloads, a figure that has risen from 78 per cent last year.
Andrew Reichman, author of the paper, said that virtual server technology is acting as a unifying force in It infrastructure all around the world.
"As maturity increases, more critical production applications are being deployed virtually, raising the stakes for getting the architecture right," he added.
"Storage remains a complicated aspect of virtual server deployments, with numerous technology and vendor choices to make."
Since January 2009, Forrester has seen significant trends towards consolidation and simplification, as well as server virtualisation experts focusing on steamlining their procedures rather than simply trying to ensure they work.
