Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) looking to adopt cloud services in a bid to reduce IT costs could find themselves limited in their knowledge of the technology.
According to Easynet Connect, 25 per cent of businesses have not taken action to utilise the feature because they have a lack of awareness about the many options.
The study, which was carried out by the internet service provider, revealed a gradual rise to the number of companies opting against the use of cloud computing, despite the associated benefits.
In addition, the findings revealed a need for specialist guidance to assist businesses with their technological developments, with less than half claiming they had a strategy in place.
Andy Horn, general manager of Easynet Connect, said: "The gap in attitudes that we've identified is in itself is worrying, however the low levels of planning highlights the need for specialist advice."
Meanwhile, industry body Intellect has suggested that international businesses can reap the benefits of flexible working by adopting cloud services.
