Spending on cloud services and SaaS set to increase by 112% between 2010 and 2014, says report
Cloud hosting services will become increasingly popular over the next three years as businesses increase their spending on software-as-a-service.
That is according to a new report by In-Stat, which found that SaaS spending will increase by 112 per cent between 2010 and 2014 as businesses look for cost-saving benefits to using cloud hosting.
Furthermore, small office and home office businesses are expected to lead the way in adopting cloud computing services, the research revealed.
Greg Potter, research analyst at In-Stat, said that healthcare in particular is one sector that will use the expenditure-saving technology.
"But since SaaS is the largest segment, volume wise, its growth will be the most dramatic," he said.
"Within SaaS, the professional services and healthcare verticals will see the largest growth in spending, each growing over 30% during the forecast period."
2e2's chief technology officer, Nathan Marke, said last month that cloud computing is a "top technology priority" for companies of all sizes.
