Hostway Supports PHP5
As the leading web hosting company in the UK in terms of bringing innovative new tools to all our customers, we are pleased to announce that we have now begun offering PHP 5 on all of our Linux shared hosting plans and our Linux Managed dedicated server range.
What is PHP5?
PHP5 is the latest incarnation of the popular open-source scripting language, PHP and has been through extensive functionality and performance testing. Offering many new features, including the ability to use object-orientated programming for the first time, PHP5 represents a major step forward in terms of designing and developing dynamically-driven websites.
Combining the ability to use SOAP and XML extensions, and powered and driven by the Zend Engine II technology, PHP5 now includes functionality that can truly open up Web Services to developers working on the Linux platform. The inclusion of the SQLite database engine into the language means that programmers can use PHP without needing to use separate MySQL databases.

How Can I Use It?
Customers that would like to add PHP5 to their hosting plans or to their server can do so via the Website Tools section of your Site Control Panel. If you already use PHP on your site, you can ‘Remove PHP’ and then ‘Add PHP’ from the same location. This process will remove the old version and then install the new version.
Support
If you do need any help in enabling PHP5 on your hosting plan, then please feel free to contact the Support team, who will be able to do this with our internal tools.
Can my hosting solution grow with my needs?
Yes of course - you can either add additional features or upgrade your hosting plan easily and can be done via your webhosting Control Panel. Additionally, we will support PHP5 across both shared and dedicated services, so if your site needs a dedicated server, you are not faced with rewriting code.
We offer a 30-day money back guarantee with all our email and shared web hosting plans. Please do contact our sales team by e-mail or call free on 0808 180 1880 from within the UK or +44 (0)207 538 8000 from outside the UK.
